What is an anagram?
An anagram is a word or phrase formed by rearranging the letters of another word or phrase, using every letter exactly once — no letter added, none left out.
Take the word “listen”: rearrange its six letters and you can spell “silent”. “Cinema” becomes “iceman”, “heart” becomes “earth”, and “stressed” becomes “desserts”. An anagram is not a synonym and not a definition — it is simply the same set of letters in a new order. That is precisely why anagrams are everywhere in word games: every turn asks you to look at a handful of letters and spot every word hiding inside them.
Lexaword does this instantly and exhaustively. Type any set of letters — up to 15 — and the solver returns every valid anagram in the dictionary you choose, sorted by length and Scrabble value. Whether you are unscrambling one jumbled word or mining a full seven-letter rack for a bingo, the method is the same: find all the anagrams, and the best play reveals itself.
Where an anagram solver helps you win
An anagram solver is useful far beyond a single game. Here is how Lexaword helps in the word games people play most.
Scrabble and Words With Friends
In Scrabble, the gap between a good move and a winning one is usually an anagram you did not see. Lexaword lists every playable word from your rack, each with its Scrabble point value, so you can instantly weigh a safe two-letter word against a high-scoring seven-letter bingo. Type ? for a blank tile, then narrow the results with starts-with, ends-with and contains to aim at a specific square on the board.
Wordle and daily word puzzles
Wordle hands you a few green, yellow and grey tiles and asks you to find the hidden word. An anagram solver turns those clues into candidates: enter the letters you know, lock their positions with the filters, and generate every word that fits the pattern. A frustrating guess becomes a short, methodical list — and a great way to build your five-letter vocabulary.
Crosswords and anagram clues
Crossword clues often hide an anagram in plain sight. Words like “mixed”, “arranged” or “upset” in a clue usually signal that the answer is an anagram of some of the clue's letters. Feed those letters into Lexaword and the right answer frequently appears at the top of the list, ready to cross-check against the grid. For cryptic crosswords especially, an anagram solver is an essential part of the toolkit.
Boggle, jumbles and every letter game
Beyond Scrabble and Wordle, Lexaword powers any game built on rearranging letters: Boggle, Bananagrams, Spelling Bee, word jumbles, Countdown-style letter rounds and countless mobile word puzzles. Whenever a game asks “what words can I make from these letters?”, Lexaword has the answer.
